We came to meet up with family at the Lost Gardens of Heligan, just for the day, which were wonderful. We did not visit the beach or any other facility. We returned to our holiday destination in North Devon the same day.

St Austell is a great base to explore Cornwall. The town isn't fantastic, but it's 5 minutes from the Eden Project, also 5 minutes to Charlestown , an historic and interesting harbour, Mevagissey is very near, and it's near to several beaches.

Many interesting places to visit. Lovely coastline with quaint villages. Mevagissey, Fowey, The Lost Gardens of Heligan and The Eden project are must sees! I shopped in St Austell itself. A good variety of shops, in interesting streets and lanes.

We stayed in Mevagissey which is south of StAustel.
We stayed in Mevagissey which is south of StAustel. St Austel is not the best place to visit in Cornwall and is a little run down but there are promises that efforts are being made to improve its image and facilities.
Fantastic position, warm welcome. Wonderfully comfortable bed. (Very important to be able to sleep comfortably) it was the most comfortable bed we’ve ever slept in other than our own! Beautiful views. The service was excellent and the food superb. We are usually fairly critical but on this occasion, there was simply nothing to criticise. Excellent all round and we intend to revisit. Thank you to all at the Carlyon Bay Hotel.
We loved the beautiful view from the front of the Hotel..whilst sitting in the conservatory for breakfast and outside having a drink! The breakfast was cooked freshly to order and of very good quality...
The ease to get into Charles Town which we fell in love with...and to Carlyon Bay which was a lovely sandy beach with a nice beach bar ..this Hotel has a great location with beautiful views!
The food is exceptional
The manager is friendly and goes out of his way to help.
The room and bathroom were both bigger than most hotel rooms.
The curtains ( my pet hate). Actually closed properly and were blackout
They had a really good menu for evening meals in the pub/restaurant which are just downstairs so no messing about with walking out in the cold
It was nice to have a friendly welcome on arrival. The hotel is lovely and quiet even though it's close to the town centre. I had a very comfortable, warm room and really comfortable bed I had a wonderful night's sleep and enjoyed a delicious well cooked English breakfast. Very friendly and helpful owner. I would definitely come again.
I stop off at St Austell because it is handy for so many attractions when you are, like me, using public transport. This was my third stay. It won't be my last. St Austell itself may be looking a bit neglected and that is a great shame but this hotel holds up hope for the future.
We loved the location of our Hotel. The Breakfast was excellent. We had a slight problem with our TV Aerial but that was quickly sorted out by the Hotel Manager. Every staff member was polite and courteous, excellent service we could not fault anything and would stay there again.
Breakfast was generous - and fresh fruit was lovely.
For evening meals, the Kings Arms is a short walk away, and does good beer and decent pub food.
For an alternative to pubs, try the Salty Bay Pizza place, a couple of miles away, and very nice pizza and salad
The staff were exceptional and responded immediately to our requests. The overall service provided was as good as any top hotel in the country and we have been guests at many. The quality of the food was of an extremely high standard, quantity and variety.
Superb hotel, rooms were a good size very nicely decorated with attention to detail and good facilities. The hospitality was wonderful and the breakfast exceptional! Will definitely come again and would highly recommend.
Loved everything about this hotel. The room was massive, the location was great, very close to the town centre but very quiet at the same time. Very nice breakfast with buffet and hot plates.
clean, tidy & the couple who own it are lovely. the beds were super comfortable! amenities were fab. for a small hotel it was comfortably running alongside the Carlyon Bay hotel in its efforts!
Located at rear of a residential bungalow in a Residential district, about a mile out of town centre. Close to lovely Carylon Bay, has a long sandy beach with great facilities.
Very friendly and helpful staff. Always cheerful.
We had a sea/harbour view room and the view was wonderful.
Very pretty village. Would definitely recommend this hotel.
